"She Turned, And Was Gone" [Manipulation Video]
« on: October 01, 2009, 07:40:54 PM »
For everyone not having heard of a thing called youtube, I present to you:

She Turned, And Was Gone

Short montage containing a 2 diabolo manipulation routine and some other random stuff. I have been exploring the concept of body placements, balances, throws, traps and drops and this video contains most of what I have found. I had a very sore lower arm muscle and sprained wrist some time ago, meaning I couldn't use my left hand resulting in this small routine. I hope you will enjoy the video, I had fun with every part of it.

Good stuff. I'm glad that you decided to ditch the sticks away. We've tried to make manipulation stuff with one diabolo and sticks with string. The string quite often makes the manipulation look a lot more ugly. I preferred your stuff over a lot of stuff i've seen. ;) Great job.

I have to admit that I started the video with some skepticism (Codarts and the whole arty-juice I usually can't really understand) but it was just too good to remain skeptic! I really liked this one.

Looks good. I agree with Marko; no sticks or string makes it more beautiful.  :)

Damn Arjan, that was some very inspiring stuff.
Thanks for showing us, that there's a whole bunch of moves with just 2 diabolo's.

Arjan,

I have to admit that when I first saw it, I wasn't interested, but the more I thought about it over the last 12 hours, the more I realized that some of that would be a great performance opener.  It would help break the ice with the audience.  I'll probably incorporate a little of it in my next show!

Thanks!

Oh my yes! You're on to something here. There's something at first calming about the movements and then exciting as you put one down just in time to catch another. I look forward to seeing where this goes next...

Thanks you guy's! I'm glad it's well received. I guess I just like playing around with diabolo's and see what comes out of it. Sticks and string most of the time are very hard to use in manipulation work, but I think it is possible. I do believe this stuff on stage could look nice, but the way it's in the video is definitely not made for a live performance.
