Ok guys, here we go...

The dates are 11th - 13th June and it will be in lovely Kimmeridge again.

We are starting to put everything together for next year and as this is a community event, we want you, the community to give your input as to what you would like to see there.

Things like, who would you like to teach workshops? Which superstar juggler should we get? Wes again or someone else?

We'll have to set an "idea" deadline of January 31st to give us enough time so please get us your suggestions before then.

Tickets will be on sale via   SOUTHERN LIGHTS

More updates can be followed via   FACEBOOK  And TWITTER

Photo's of SL09 can be found here:   FLICKR

Happy Winter

The SL10 crew

All I do is suggest8) Ben.

@ Crackers. I think when we met up with you in France we discussed getting you to southern lights 2010, I know Simon was keen  to get you down as "Mr diabolo"

In the spring I may visit a few juggling clubs in Brighton and London  to spread the word. We normally get a small but high level group of diaboloer's. I shall take on the responsibility of nagging certain people to book this off work and come down.

How about the world away from diabolo. workshops you would be interested in? Acts that you think are a must?

Any feedback from last year.

Disclaimer. Anything that I post is in no way official Southern lights thinking infact its often more dynamic and handsome.

I'd quite like to see more live music through out the day time not just the evening, would be nice to just go chill listen to some bands especially where the festival is set.

Maybe set up some kind of diary room area? Would probably get some pretty strange stuff on camera? Could make for an alright collab!

We are looking into more music during the day however there are circumstances that need we need to be sensitive to. The main one being cost vs ticket price as we need to keep the prices as competitive as possible.

Love the diary room idea :)

Quite often local bands will often play for free! Specially at this sort of festival the chance to play in front of quite a lot of people and then hang out with a bunch of hippy/jugglers! You'd be surprised wjhat just asking bands will get you.

Circumstances that mean we need*

@Crackers. kicking K! but yes I shall keep in touch

@Hath. I too love the diary room idea. The interviews we filmed this year are gold and we will hopefully get them posted on their own at some point. The whole band thing is a massive can of worms in terms of who to get and how many. We have a man on the case! Granted he is closer to having a hip op than being hip hop but he does know his stuff. I personally tend to be abit snobby with my live music and the idea of "local bands" fills me with dread. I'd much prefer a good DJ over a good quality PA filling the field with beats Saturday afternoon at Bristol style.

Am I right in thinking the price has gone up? Your pre-reg is 15 pounds less than the BJC. Just strikes me as a large amount of money for some reason...

Hello folks!

Yes their has been a small price rise. Rest assured that the extra money is all being pumped into the festival. If you attended this year or have watched the video you would hopefully appreciate that we do things on a large scale and I beleive we still offer great bang for your buck. Just for a campsite in Dorset for three days would cost you a similar amount at that time of year.

I have organised a special guest diaboloist from oversea's which will be worth the ticket price alone.

Hi Hathaway,

yes the price has had to go up and I would like to remind you that this event is entirely self funded by us, the organisers and any deficit in the budget comes out of our own pockets and also the infrastructure costs have been increased by our suppliers.

Hope to see you there

And with regards to free bands, unfortunately free does not usually equate to quality. I am planning more daytime music however they can't over power the workshops.

Cheers

There is slightly less than 2 weeks to go before the early bird discount expires so anyone wishing to save some £££, get your tickets by March 1st.
We are very pleased to announce some of our acts confirmed for SL10. We have tried to source acts across Europe to come and share their skills with the UK community.

Firstly, our juggler this year is the amazing François Bouille. Anyone lucky enough to see him perform at last years EJC will be very pleased to see him on the field and he has also never performed in the UK. Here's what Luke Burrage had to say about his EJC show

“But the highlight for most people (myself included) was the act by François. He did “experimental” juggling with three planks of wood and three white clubs. Just as the act began to lull, one of his plank sculptures wouldn’t stand up on its own. To remedy this situation, he invited a small boy up on stage with him to hold the planks in place. Pablo, as was the boy’s name, completely stole the show, continually experimenting with the balance and placement of the planks himself, distracting the audience from François’ juggling. At one point François did a really cool trick, just as Pablo got the planks to balance, and the two halves of the audience both cheered at the same time. Another time (or maybe the same time, I can’t remember) Pablo did something so funny Pola spat her beer down my back. Quite disgusting, yes, but also quite memorable “

Next, our headline fire show...

We are very pleased to confirm that Thomas 'Nevisoul' will be returning and this time he´s bringing and performing with the group LOOOOP from Berlin.

Those of you that saw Thomas last year will know how mind blowing his performances are and we are very pleased to welcome LOOOOP featuring Thomas to Southern Lights who will also be performing in the UK for the first time. Here is a link to LOOOOP´s latest video featuring François and Thomas, hope it get you into the right mood.

Pink Panther version 2.0

There will be much more in the way of street shows and we are pleased to announce Rob Roy Collins who will not only be performing his show but will also be giving a seminar as a street performer.

www.robroycollins.com

Plus the infamous Two Man Tent Show return with a brand new show for 2010.  Expect exciting circus tricks, suspense, witty banter and surreal humour.

And lastly in this long list of currently confirmed artists is our local favourite Okey Dokey The Dragon.  Very much a street performer who works on two levels loved by kids and adults alike.

If any of you would like the opportunity to perform your own street show at Southern Lights, please get in touch ASAP as we still have some pitches available and you will get your show professionally filmed, photographed  plus a reference to go out and promote yourself.

Any questions, please get in touch in the usual way.

Many thanks

Message to anybody travelling a long way.

I will endeavor to pick people up from our local train/bus/airport on the Thursday before but ideally would like to do this in one trip. So travel plans as soon as possible would be handy. I cannot pick anybody up on the Friday! I will be illegal to drive after 11am

Lost one spare room since last year but everybody is still welcome to stay over on the Thursday as long as you don't mind being cosy. If people can get here relatively early we can go to the site and set up all our camping gear on the Thursday saving us a job and bagging the the best site for .ca

Anybody driving down. I have a 150 watt pa system but anything else like cool box's, bbq, paddling pool's would be great to have in the .ca area.

Paddling pool is a pretty banging idea. I assume ur sofa will make an appearance again mate?
