Perhaps a weekly magazine is asking for to much.

Monthly would work better.

Diabolo.ca has got diaboloists from all over the world... think about the hassle and shipping costs if Ofek wants one and then on the other side of the planet, another guy want one.

Here, we have videos, we can post ourselves and to be honest i dont think Sean and those guys would have the time and money to press a magazine.

Yea electronic. And everyone could just send in a piece to the editor who creates it with a program =)

I like the idea, but what's the added value compared to the forum?

I suppose it would be a quick view of the best bits like the video of the week but with all parts of the forum included.

Well the added value could be the magazine content itself. As an editor of a finnish diabolo magazine i feel like there's so much to gain. But you'll have to see it as a collaborative work. I don't personally feel that it would be technically much different from blog we have in here. People could also write their articles to forum, that is true. But they just don't. So the thing you need for magazine is writers or people who want constantly to create material for common good. Hard thing to get to happen.

The way it works for us is that I gather articles from people (or i just call them constantly to get the articles or beat them to it) four times a year and put a magazine together in PDF format. So everybody can print it or just read from computer. For events such as diabolo competitions or FDC we just print the magazine in color.

So far we've had freakishly good tutorials from people, interviews, event reviews and general news for diabolo association. The writing is open for anyone, even outside the our organization. I hope i'll get our younger diabolo jugglers to write as well. If that would work out we would have so much more material. In 1,5years our shortest magazine has been 2pages longest was 12pages.

In conclusion, if you get people to write the articles it will be the best thing ever no matter in what format you publish it. Let it be just messages on the forum or in cooler looking magazine or blog. Cheers fellas.

Doesn't the front page kind of function like a sort of magazine?

I just don't think at this moment a magazine could really be successful, any format.

Ow, btw, don't forget Kaskade magazine. Altough it is a juggling-in-general magazine, sometimes diabolo is featured.

You have a point there Marko. I have a few ideas for articles, but I keep delaying to write them. If I had some sort of deadline, I'd be more productive. But that might be a personal thing ;D

Same here... I have articles to write, but since I have no deadline I put them at the bottom of my priority when compared to college and juggling.

Yeah, i agree maybe monthly would be less hastle for sean and generally more practical.

This is just the same with any magazine...anyway it was just a thought i didn't actually think about any of these factors

I think he likely means an electronic magazine

I meant a paper magazine, but this could be a good idea. maybe a bit to much like what we allready have?

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback i wasn't expecting so many repiles! :P
I didn't consider some of the factors you have brought to my attention so this may make it less possible. I just thought about it and it sounded like a good idea to me. But i'm not expecting it to happen... just wanted to know what other diaboloists thought about it.

So all it comes down to, if we want to follow through with Jammy's idea, would just be to take all the blogs and whatnot and supercondense them into a better-looking format...?  We could probably do a supercondensing of all the useful and interesting diabolo information and put them up somewhere, but where's the fun in that?  And that'd take a long time to do...
