Hello,

I said I'd post more bits about performing here. This is a video about avoiding problems with costumes, and go through many of the bad costume things that have happened to me on stage. Strangely enough, diabolo strings seem to make quite a few appearances. Enjoy!

Nice advice Luke! I try to design my costumes to not get in the way, although the next costume I'm making might end up having a wierd design that gets in the way although I think Im just going to get used to juggling in it because it will hopefully contribute a lot to what will be my most epic routine yet. But like you said, ill try to make it so it doesnt get in the way with things like catching the string, pirouettes, etc

I have a performance soon and I'm going to go look at my costume now...
also, is it a good idea to have a separate set of diabolos for performing and for practice? is it worth it?

Hello wgm

If I may answer on Luke's behalf I would say most certainly.

Pro's

-If you buy the same type of diabolo's as your practice diabolo's then they can become your spare's to take to a performance. You never know what can happen. I've had all sorts from robbery to thick mud to diabolos exploding before shows.

-They will look nicer due to the fact they will be used less. Also you can prepair your performance case ready for shows without hindering vital practice.

-  Opportunity for some press shots when you first buy them.

Cons

Cost
storage.

If you are performing at a level where you are getting paid or hope to be in the near future then go for it. I currently have 2 suns and a shining just for LED performance. and 2 suns and a fly for day shows/practice. I will probably buy a set purely for day performances in the new year.

Thanks for that Luke, it was comforting to hear many of the same problems I've had ( hat, tails and buttons) and you solved the shirt coming untucked problem for me. Thanks again!
