I don't know if it's just me and my sketchy iPhone (it behaved different before I dropped it on pavement, cracked the glass and replaced the glass part myself :-D) or if it's the new design, but the forum loads rather slow when I access it mobile. It takes quite a while to load, zoom in and sharpen compared to the old design.

Which got me wondering, does SMF have a default design for mobile internet to view the forum? Something that wouldn't take too much time and effort to incorporate in the forum?

I don't know how many people visit the forum with their phones, but I just though I'd bring it up.

Martijn,

I access it daily on my Samsung Blackjack.  There is a mobile version that I get.  I think the problem is that an iPhone doesn't load the mobile sites but the actual site.  This is great if you have a really fast internet connection or a "small" site, but for data intensive sites, it is a handicap.  I don't know how you could make the iPhone access the mobile version, but mine does it automatically.

Aha! A quick google search and I found out that the following additions to the url work:

http://www.diabolo.ca/forum/index.php?imode
http://www.diabolo.ca/forum/index.php?wap
http://www.diabolo.ca/forum/index.php?wap2

And if you're on a mobile phone which automatically detects and switched to a mobile version, you can use 'nowap' to view the regular desktop version:

http://www.diabolo.ca/forum/index.php?nowap

Thanks for the links Martijn. There is also a link at the bottom of the forum to the standard WAP2 version:

Further (new in the latest release candidate) there is a link at the bottom of each WAP version to go back to the full version.

I haven't used the normal version on my iPod touch enough to notice if there has been a difference, but I wouldn't doubt that there is. The new theme was a major overhall, moving from tabled design to divs. Hopefully it will only get optimized in future versions.
