This week we have an old school trick at its finest - Dave P. demonstrates the 2 diabolo finger curl. Thanks to Barnesy for filming.

Now don't you all wish you had a pair of Renegades kicking around in your closet?

wow, looks awesome.. is it possible only with renegades?
What if the prophecy is true? What if tomorrow the war could be over? Isn't that worth fighting for? Isn't that worth dying for?

Damn you... Can I find renegades when I want them...  So cool, calm and collected though, wonderful.
Blue/Shadow - The trick was made for Renegades, you can do it on a jumbo harlequin if you grease your finger up, but it'll only do about a quarter to half turn.  Beard has a diabolo called the "Bongo" which is similar to a renegade, but they spent so long developing it, they kinda missed out on the hard plastic diabolo stage.

Was amazed when I saw you do this at Chocfest X Dave, s`a well nice trick  :)

I've been workin on somthin similar every now and then but only one diab for now, just grind with one stick in a cup, managed a full turn once but just mucked up the catch at the end  #-o   but it should be possible, with practise, with a couple of circus

I do love that trick.  I have plenty of renegades, but still can't get the pop out of two in one hand to work.

As for doing it with other diabolos - unwanted CDs pop into the ends of the cups on a Henry's circus perfectly*, so maybe curls could work on those.  I've not tried it though - I imagine it would be too sharp and the hole would be slightly too small.  It's well worth a play though.  Renegades aren't all that hard on the fingers for this trick if you keep to the fleshy part.

* To get the CDs back out, all you need is a high throw and a dustpan and brush.  And preferably goggles too.  :D

I've been playing around with these with one diabolo.
Works quite nicely with a Finesse if you do a left hand single Fritz release, pass both sticks to your right hand. Then stick your left hand thumb nail against the inside of the near cup and lift the diabolo out and away from the strings. The Finesses (G1's, not sure about G2's)) have a little lip around the inside of the cup that is quite useful for keeping the diabolo on your thumb nail. The Finesse do slow down quickly though, so it needs to be spinnng fast.
Got the 360 curl OK, currently working on doing a 180 on the left thumb then switching to the other thumb in the same cup to do a final 180. No joy yet.
City landmark might be feet lower if rebuilt (6,5)

A joy to behold.

Brings back so many happy memories: the taste of the filthy, juggling hall finger in the set up, the gentle burning sensation if you catch it on a dry bit of skin.  All that's missing is the killer whales on the sides of the diabolo.

Another true Dave original! =D>
