Could it be that because it's a close zoom the string just looks really thick?

Zeekio makes lousy diabolos (mostly because they are WAY too light), but they make some nice diabolo carrying cases that I've seen on ebay.
Diabolo may be very technical - but don't overlook the artistic side ;-)

I like the Zeekio strings.  I just started with a triple bearing diabolo, and this string was way better at helping get the whips going than the Sundia string.

I also used a Zeekio Sidewinder when I got started and was really happy with it.
