It's from arcadism, the literary movement brought up themes like 'fugere urbem', 'inutilia truncat', 'aurea mediocritas', 'locus amoenus' and the famous 'carpe diem'...
The place where we were performing was nature and calm, a bucolical place (I think bucolical doesn't exist in english, in a rough translation it means something like a natural place...)
But I think that 'inutilia truncat' [throw away superfluous things] or 'locus amoenus' [calm place] would fit too.
