1. How many years have you diaboloed for?

13 or 41

2. What or who got you started?

I went to a circus wrokshop with my family. My sister and brother bought a diabolo each. I sill have them.

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?

Making up new tricks with diabolo.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?

0.00001

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?

Yes.

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?

Mainly balls and clubs.

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?

I use a small, cheap plastic diabolos. This is important to me for the bounce of floor tricks. Also the metal hubs are fantastic for grinding against metal handsticks. Stick? The metal ones with black foam handles. String? Whatever I buy at the time. I go though a lot of sting.

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?

1 diabolo. Also 1 diabolo, 1 string and 1 handstick.

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?

The advanced impossible trick.

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?

Once Norbi tried to show me a trick but he didn't manage it. If it ever works, that one.

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?

No diabolo right now. Otherwise a squeeze foot catch from a 5 ball (6x,4)*.

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?

Dave Barnes (loopy) and, um, others...

i re-started when i saw a my friend at school play with one diabolo, he was great!!

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?

during the week i try to use it for 1 hour (whenn i must do homework) , in the wednsday evening i go to a juggling gym for 2.30 hours, and in the weekend i usually use it more than 6 hours...so its 10hours minimum for a week (last weekend i used it for 10 hours!!)

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?

only one time...it was tragic..nothing serius anyway

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?

i use also balls, clubs, flowerstick, poi , and a little contact..

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?

my favourite diabolo are circus, for the string i use the henrys yellow one, and for the sticks i use home made wood sticks! are the best!

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?

i  think i'm better with 2 diabolos, but i prefer 1 diabolo, more freestyle! anyway now i'm improving with one...

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?

Only been doing diabolo for 6 months now!!

2. What or who got you started?

A mate at uni who could only do about 5 tricks

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?

The lazy factor of the diabolo is what made it stick with me. You dont have to bend down to pick up after a drop!!!

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?

3-4hours

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?

Mainly street busking but thats bin about it so far

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?

Devilsticks and balls

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?

Ohhhh tough one this. Started with Henry's circus but got hold of some Finnesse about a month ago. I find them easier when using 2, and they seem to have stuck with me now. Ill prob go back to using the circus's again at some point though cos they're ace too. Henry's carbon fibre sticks are my choice and pink string seems to be that bit more sticky than yellow when its fresh. I use yellow too though.

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?

Now ive got the hang of using 2 it is probably my favourite though i still really like using 1 for the big long combos I've sorted out

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?

none really. I like big long arm and body combos, but finger grinding and throwing the diabolo onto the hanging string held by one stick into infinate suicide is the one i do most at the moment.

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?

Theres so many I cant decide!!!!!!!!!

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?

Fans. Those annoying 2 diabolo fans look sooooo  cool but I just cant pick it up!!!!!!!!!!!! Even with the new video on this site!!!!!!!!!

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?

My main influence has got to be Priam, but all the mad french posse inluence me.
Peace

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?

16 and a bit

2. What or who got you started?

I was present at the first British Juggling Convention in 1988.  It was the first time I'd seen proper juggling vendors, so I ended up buying loads different props to try.  One of these purchases was a yellow 'Swiss Jumbo' diabolo...

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?

Performing to a receptive audience is always cool.  Winning over a cynical or stiff one is even better.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?

Don't understand question!

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?

Yes.  Over the years I've done cabaret, banquets, corporate events, juggling conventions, TV, summer balls, festivals, weddings, carnivals, shopping malls, fairs and doubtless a bunch of other stuff I've long since forgotten.

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?

Balls, clubs, devil sticks, shaker cups, yo-yo (mostly 'A' plus a little CW/OS), kendama, unicyles, stilts, chatter rings, Guy Heathcote Ball Sticks ;0), balance tricks, lasso, staff/poi (if forced....), contact stuff, soil pipe as well as a bunch of other random stuff I've picked up over the years, but never gotten around to performing.

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?

I got a set of Renegades when they were first released onto the market and have pretty much stayed with them ever since.  Unfortunately though, it's been very hard to practice with them in my house (they're too noisy and break everything in there path...), so recently I've been trying to learn how to operate with Finesse long-axles.  On Saturday night, I used them in my routine for the first time - and got through the whole thing without a drop.  Which was nice.

I have a small Spintastics bearing diabolo which is very cool for doing tricks in a string loop, so I guess that's another favourite.  Finally, I've got a 1920s type job in it's original box.  It plays bad, but I still rather like it.

For sticks, I prefer those simple wooden jobs with the plastic bits around the handle.  I'm currently using Henrys string.

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?

Depends on how I feel.  On balance, probably 2.

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?

Probably just the simple 'Around the arm' with 1 diabolo.  I still think it's one of my best tricks when I've got it dialled in properly.

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?

Sam I Am's blind behind-the-back bounce catch.  It's on one of the old BJC videos.  Truely, a one-off.

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?

John showed me the S-Fan thing the other day.  Haven't got it down yet, so I guess that.

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?

For the initial help and inspiration, it would have been Thierry Nadalini, Jean-Manuel Thomas, Todd Strong and Jochen Schell.   After that initial surge of enthusiasm, Donald Grant and Dave Proctor were probably the most influential in what I learned subsequently.  Of course, many others have showed me cool stuff - most of which went in one ear and out the other.  Basically, too many to mention.

 1. How many years have you diaboloed for? 7+

 2. What or who got you started? A friend at YMCA camp showed me how to do it.

 5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo? Not really...

 6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ? Balls, Clubs, and Cigar boxes keep me pretty busy.

 7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string? Henrys Alum Sticks, Henrys Circus with 4erlei axles and Henrys string.  I'm thinking about trying the Finesse diabolos with some new sticks.  I enjoyed using Sean's stuff at IJA this summer.

 8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best? I like playing with 1 and with 2 diabolos, and 3 is becoming slightly fun now because I can do it a bit more.

 9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do? Mini-genocide variations

 10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done? The first time I ever saw 3 low (Trash and Tony at EJC 2003).

 11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?  3 high and 3 low.

 12. What other diaboloists have inspired you? Donald Grant taught the master diabolo class at IJA 2000.  Patrick Leonard-I haven't seen him do much, but everything he does is magical.  Ryo Yabe and the rest of the Kaitai Shinsho crew blew me away with their new style.  Seeing JiBe's site and Priam's site introduced me to the MFP, and meeting them at EJC 2003 just floored me even more.  Yufi from Czech impressed me greatly and I wish I could talk with him more.  Dave Barnes, Andy P., and Norbi are Brits I hold in very high regard.  Lastly, Tres Passe (sp?) and the horizontal movement--whoa....
Many Thanks to Sean for all his work and inspiration.  Respect to the MFP!

It isn't quite one-off. I can do it pretty consistently. I once had a video of it on my website, but I seem to have deleted it at some point and don't have a copy on my computer at all. Maybe someone out there will have a copy. It''s called "Advanced Impossible Diabolo Trick".

I once had a video of it on my website, but I seem to have deleted it at some point and don't have a copy on my computer at all. Maybe someone out there will have a copy. It''s called "Advanced Impossible Diabolo Trick".

Here it is: http://diabolo.ca/video/temp/impossiblediabolo.mpg

I picked it up when I was pretty small but returned again about 3 years ago.

 3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?

the great feeling when you get an amazing new trick and have to show everyone around.  I hate the feeling when, about 2 weeks later, I seem to lose all ability to do it again.

 4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?

Ummm, proabably about 1 more if I feel like it.

 5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?

Only to friends, I suppose as the local diabolo boy, I'm going to have to do a set at the Nottingham Juggling Convention in March.

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?

yeah, I've tried most things.  Unicycling and club passing have to be my favorites rightnow though.

 7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?

I'm all henryed up.  four henry's circuses two with Vega LED kits in for night time.  Carbon fibre sticks and henry's string.

 8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?

I love them all for different reasons.  The freedom you have with one, The rythum of two and the sheer impressiveness of three.

 9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?

I got pretty excited when I did 3 for the first time.

 10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?

There are too many to pick just one.

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?

Lots of two diabolo stuff, good sprinklers, good fans, mini-columns and more.

 12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?

All the guys (and girls) that have posted videos on the net that are now filling up my hard drive.  That have provided me with tricks and inspiration.  The Mad French Posse, Sean, Norbi and many more.
