hi, I'm new (obviously ::)) and I wanted to introduce myself and tell you a bit about me. So I answered the questions and added some of my own. Here we go...

Name: Fabian
Location: near Munich, Germany
Age: 24
Website: none

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
I started around the age of 13/14 (not really sure, though) with one yellow Henry's Jazz Diab. Then I've diaboloed more or less for about two or three years. Later I bought a 2nd Jazz (blue), but I took the Diabolos only occasionally with me and never learned to play with 2D.
And now I continue for about 2 weeks...

2. What or who got you started?
I can't remember clearly, but I think it was in school. Either soccer, athletic sports or diabolo. So I took the Diabolo.
After a few days when I couldn't think of any more tricks, I went to the library and lent "Das große Diabolo-buch" ("The big Diabolo-book" or something like this) written by Ralf Runde. I've had this book for more than 6 month and I knew almost every trick from the book.

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
I like to do things that first seem impossible and then the more you practice, the easier it gets (of course up to a certain point  ;)). Furthermore, all this juggling stuff is imo really good to train your hand-eye-coordination, some theoretic physics, concentration, to get a (different/better) feeling for your body, and some more. With better feeling for the body I mean e.g. that you learn how to do a certain move for a certain thing do happen. Of course, the show-off factor is a cool add-on.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
atm only about 30 min. but average! during summer it will be much more!  ;D

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
Not on stage. But when I'm at the lake or somewhere and play, the people take a look.

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?
Yes, I do. Balls, clubs and rings (in this order and skill-level). But I have no real skills in juggling. I've just started and try to learn new things now.

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
Dunno... I've had two Jazz, woodsticks and a string used for kites. But I'll know more soon.

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?
Two atm. never tried 3 yet.

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?
2D sprinkler suicide exit

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?
Most of the stuff I see currently is amazing. But one of my favourite videos is "The Beat Of The Diabolo" by Pranay Werner, especially from 2:42 - 3:06. Pranay, if you read this: This combo is amazing!!!  :o

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
2D continuous wrap accelerations, Excalibur things

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?
Of course tmfp and all good players who put their vids on youtube.

additional part:

13. Have you ever visited a juggling gathering/convention?
No, unfortunately not. :-[ But I want to. If there only was one near Munich.

14. Do you know any other diabolo players/jugglers in your area?
No, nobody. I'm the only one that I know. In Munich city there are some diabolo players, but thats about 40 km away.

15. What "sports" do you do else?
slacklining, penspinning, mountainbike, ski, snowboard

16. Which languages do you speak?
german, english ( :-\), swedish

17. Anything more?
Yes, two points are still to come. Take a look at 18. and 19.

18. Why did you continue playing diabolo?
I watched some vids on youtube and was so stunned about the progress in this sport. The smallest little children are doing suns and sprinklers with 2D!?  :o And I never managed to have 2 diabs in one string? No way! I have to continue!!
And of course it's fun and addicting, once you can see a little progress in skillz...

19. What changed?
phew... you never run out of questions, do you? Okay, that's one more point why it was so amazing to watch new vids and check a little bit of new informations: When I began, I've had my Henry's Jazz, two wooden sticks (without even a real shape, just the plain sticks) and a string used for kites.
Then I came back about 10 years later (=now) and you have carbon-fibre sticks, high quality strings and tuning kits for diabolos. Many new tricks and styles (Excalibur, 3D, ...) and all tricks have (more or less) cool names. Yeah! First I thought it'd be hard to understand and remember all the trick names and stuff, but now I figured out that it's not rocket science and I'm getting into it pretty well.

I'm done. Feel free to ask any questions you like. I hope, I can improve my skills and I hope my long post was not too boring to read.
so long..

Juggling! Because everything else requires only one ball.

Hi,
I'm new at Diabolo.ca and I have a question.
I'm playing now since Tuesday and I can do:

 The stopover (both directions)
 Adding Speed
 Chinese Suicide
Over the Leg (the right and the left)
 And sometimes over the arm.

Now I'm trying to do the Elevator, but when I hold it horizontal, then it gets stuck.
 Please Help Me :D

Btw. Sorry for my bad English, I'm Austria (NOT AUSTRALIA)

aww, that's too bad...for you :D
Welcome!, maybe you could put some more spin on it, or you might not have your string in line with the diabolo..hard to explain.

Thank you Will. We're all from NSW, cos NSW is the best state ;) . Im saving up for a decent pair of sticks, but for the time being I just sawed my yoho ones down.
See...living in NSW makes people delusional!

Good luck logan, welcome to the forum. Already uploaded today's footage...sweet 7-spin.
excalibur duicide, into an excalibur infinite suicide, into an excalibur genpocide!
(actually it was a duicide to double genocide to infinite suicide ;))

I was about to say.. I can see infinite suicide to genocide, but a duicide to infinite suicide wouldn't make much sense.

Why not? :S

Could either start with wrap on diabolo then duicide, or start with open string, have one stick spin faster and orbit twice.

anyway, wrong thread for this O.O

Hi Adam,

Since there are a few questions at the beginning of this thread (that I merged yours into [and should tell you to have a wee search around the site before posting new threads ;)]), why not start by answering those?
