1. How many years have you diaboloed for?

Close to 2 years. On and Off

2. What or who got you started?

Makky and Kazuya from Japan

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?

The visual effect it delivers.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?

Varies from an hour to 2.

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?

I've done Solid loop diabolo style for a freestyle a few times. I tried to compete in the Victoria Harbour Yo-Yo Contest in the Diabolo Freestyle division in Hong Kong summer of 2005. I believe i got last place :)

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?

I'm actually a yo-yo player and from many japanese yoyo clip videos there are many features of famous Dia players such as Ryo Yabe, Makky, kazuya and many more. That got me really interested because i'm a fanatic of yoyos and because how alike diabolos and yoyos are, i got interested in Diabolos as well.

I do quite a bit of Devilsticks and Poi as well. As for Poi i do mostly Glowstringing style (tying glowsticks at the end)

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?

I'm using the Henry Jazz currently but i've played with Bandai Yohos which i like a lot. I've tried the Mister Babache's as well and from playing briefly i have to say it has terrific control. Basicaly the kind of Diabolo i would want to use. I haven't tried with too many diabolos, strings or sticks yet so can't really put my favourites on anything yet.

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?

I like 2 diabolos the best because like i said before i like the visual effects it delivers. 3 is just plain crazy but i'll try that one day.

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?

umm not sure of the name but the Wrap around two diabolo spinning real fast. I'm still working on the fan and most of all trying to get the two diabolos to balance as long as possible on the string. (there's been progress   )

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?

Any of the Mad French Posse's tricks are amazing in my opinion. I recall from their trailer for Diabology, there's some double diabolo behind the back that really impresses me, along with any tricks that are of the Fan genre, they really blow my mind.

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?

...Fan... :)

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?

My friend Fred, from Hong Kong. Professional yoyo player for Duncan Toy Co. but he also does quite a bit of diabolo.

Extra note: Check out www.yoperation.com to see some Canadian yoyo players. If any of you players ever come to Montreal be sure to contact me cause i'd be most than happy to meet any of you guys!

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
Probably around one now.. i could always "throw and catch" but ever since i joined a circus school and performance company i have taken circus to be my career.

2. What or who got you started?
possibly the fact that i was a better diaboloist that a juggler (which i hope to conquer one day)
3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
The fact when you sit there and juggle by your self for ages and you feel like your getting nowhere then a random see's you and goes "WOW"   i just love that,
4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
about 2- 3  depends what im doing,  I MUST DO 2D WELL!
5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
of couse! i love it! it's the best thing im at and i love it.
6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?    dont manipulators need to be able to do that??   yes.  up to 4 balls  3 clubs, rings, fire clubs...ect.  pretty much anything...

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
I like my  Yoho, simply because there cheap, light and they do what there supposed to... spin.    for 1D stuff (like Vux style) i tend to use my Henry's because it is heavier.      i use these wierd french prototype things which are aluminium.
8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?
i dream about 3D all the time..   2D is really smooth and gets the "wow" factor form the common person  but i prefer One diabolo, simply because i can do it and it is more traditional.
9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?
ummm..  around both back leg.  because it is smooth and you can do so many things with it.
10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?
when i watched Diabology the first time my jaw was gapeing..  everything on Diabology.. everything..
11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
gah, god damn 2D suns, i cant get my timing right  and  axis correction with 2D, drives me crazy.  if anyone is comming to australia I NEED YOUR HELP!!
12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?
Vux is probably the biggest Diaboloist that has inspired me just because even with one diabolo he can rock out on it like no-one can, and even when he does two, its smooth and flowing.. i wonder if he has had traditional training (chinese)

JiBe probably is the next because he brings New-school to a new level, its just like Woah..  and that i know he has been in australia before.. so . hopefully i can meet him and finally master 2D...

and everyone from Diabology..   you guys effing Rock!

Well Hello!

Name: Tye... or Erik... Or Erik Tye...  I answer to any combination of these.
Location: Lincoln, Nebraska in the U.S.
Age: 23

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
About... 1/5th of a year?

2. What or who got you started?
I transfered to University of Nebraska at Lincoln and found they had a Juggling Club here.  (yahoo)  I've been doing poi for probably 2 years now... But I got a chance to see Diabolo first hand being performed by several members. (Jim, the creator of Diabolotricks.com)... He started teaching me, and I took off from there!
3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
The Zen of it!  The being so focused on what you're doing that you lose track of everything and live vicariously through a piece of plastic! Exciting stuff!
4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
Maybe 1.5?
5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
Nope... I'm more in it for me I think.... (I'm too timid to try to get in the lime-light)
6. Do you juggle other props? Nope, Just Poi
7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
I'm borrowing one of Jim's Yoho's right now til I can afford one... (being a college student and all makes one very poor.)  I do however own some aluminum short sticks, which I like very much.
8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?
Right now, the only thing in my bag of tricks is 1 diabolo.... and i think i'll probably stick with it the most due to it being much more "free" in what you can do.... with 2 diabolo you have more limitations I think... although you can do much "different" stuff with 2D.  Plus i'm a big fan of the millions of suicides, genocides, and other handle tosses you can do with 1D....
9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?
Either the slack-whip into full cradle(well any of the slack whips are neat really...), or a cross-over neck wrap (transfered from poi into diabolo) Where you swing it around your neck and RIGHT when it's about to choke you, you swing your head back so it will release... it's just real smooth and looks dangerous :P
10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?
How about most of the stuff that Matt Hall or Ryo Yabe can do... :)
11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
The type of suicide where both hand sticks are released in a circle...
2d shuffling
Straining my brain to come up with new slacks
umm Trash's Web? :)
12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?
Jim from Diabolotricks.com... He's a great teacher!
Chad from the Juggling Club here at UNL
Ryo Yabe
Matt Hall
Umm all diabolo people that posted threads and videos :)

Any other questions that you're dieing to know.. e-mail me or send me a message :)

 BYE!

Graham

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
Maybe 3 or 4 messing around, but only really about one and a half since i joined a club.  (before my best trick was probably a high throw ^.^)

2. What or who got you started?
The Fairly Famous Family - a uk street theatre group, my mum went to uni with so they came over to do some workshops in schools at one point, and then the club i go to (Possan Straiddey - www.manxjugglers.com is the closest think we have to a website) and then i watched diabology - here starts my true obsession with diabolo :P

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
It's fun :p

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
Not very much atm... winter and it's dark early

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
Yea, occassionally but not very well

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?
devil sticks a lil, 3 balls (columns and reverse cascade is my extent :P) juggle three clubs for about 30 catches, i'm not bad at fire staff and contact ball is pretty fun :)

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
Henry's alu sticks, and Henry's yellow string
Forgot to mention - my lovely Henry's Circus diabs

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?
I like 1 and 2 lots :P... probably 2 more cos i've not been doing it for long... and i'm sure i'll like 3 when i learn how to do three...

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?
Hmm.  Not really too sure, i can't do much :)... although almost got vertax and that's cool.. i enjoy stuff that i've just learnt, so also 2d shuffle i guess

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?
Everything on diabology.  especially the gymnasticy stuff that vux (i think) does with frontflips from throws - just impressive

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
2d Corrections!  also vertax and getting genocide stick catch smooth... i usually hit myself in the knuckles with stick or something stupid

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?
Well... everyone from diabology of c, and everyone on this forum - i dno many people who do diabolo where i come from, unfortunately no-one better than me to teach me that i know so it's good being on a forum where i can find out what i'm doing wrong :P

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?  Er... I first picked up a diabolo about 2 years ago, but it belonged to a friend of mine. I only got my own diabolo about 6 - 8 months ago.

2. What or who got you started?
My good pal Joe thornley.

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
The feeling you get when you pull a trick you've been working on for ages.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
I go days without going on the thing, but I'd say I practise most days and get in about an hour an a half in.

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
Nah, I'd love to find out how to get into performing

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?  I give the old Poi a bash now and then, and I love my Yo Yo.

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
I haven't been on enough different diabolos to say which is my favourite. I have a Mr bambache Pinochio though and I think it's terrible. The other no name diabolos I have are better.

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best? I can't do two or three, but I'm working on it!

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do? Dunno... there's too many. I like the armover string wrap, it's about the most recent one I learnt.

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done? Dunno what it's called but my mate can grind on the end of the stick inside the cup of the diabolo. That was shocking.

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
Er... I need to look for more tricks!! I've just nailed the armover string wrap and The one handed armover. I'm looking for more armover variations. I love them.
