1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
My one year anniversary is on Jan 1st 2008

2. What or who got you started?
My friend got one for Christmas so everyone had a go, I was the worst couldn't even spin it.  So i got a bit addicted trying to get as good as other people.

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
It's proof that practise makes perfect and you can do anything with the right determination. Plus the people you meet are great.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
    Maybe 2??

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
Not really, we do fire shows around Leeds but it's really informal.

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?
No I can do 2 seconds of poi though.

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
I used to use henry's carbons but moved on to henry's metal sticks as they don't break and don't waste as much string.  Henrys circus with a finger grind axle.  And henry's yellow string.

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?
1, but thats cos i can go for longer without mistakes.  But would love to be really good at 3!

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?
Ohh dunnno, but infinite suicide 360 is fun.  But loads more

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?
All these crazy integral into mini genocides

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
     2D fan

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?
Loads of people from around Leeds that I've seen videos for.  But don't know all their names

Hello to everyone who came to the Leeds juggling convention, thanks for making it such a great day guys, I'll see you next year with some new skills

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
I started properly a few months ago at the beginning of summer.

2. What or who got you started?
About 3 years ago I started because a friend diaboloed and I got a small harlequin. I somehow managed to lose it and never bothered to get another one. A few months ago I got into juggling and then remembered diaboloing and bought a set up.

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
It's hard to say really, just the feeling of the diabolo on a string.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
Usually about an hour, but I don't diabolo every day.

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
No.

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?
Used to juggle balls and a bit of clubs, but haven't done so for a couple of months because of diabolo.

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
I've only used one set up so far: a green and an orange G3, extremes with green silicon grips and Babache string. I am getting some Henrys aluminiums for Christmas though.

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?
1 and 2 equally. I'm not even thinking about 3 yet.

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?
I got a 2D suicide the other day which is pretty cool, especially considering that it was my first 2D trick. I made up a trick that involves grabbing the string in a suicide and wrapping it around the axle. Also, it seems pretty weird but one of the first times that I properly diaboloed outside was only a couple of days ago so I am having fun with infinite suicides and genocides.

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?
Pretty much everything on this site, but especially Pranay's crazy suicide combos and 3D always amazes me! I'm getting Diabology for Christmas so that should be enough inspiration to last a long time.

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
Improving corrections on 2D and learning 2D tricks.

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?
Everyone on this site.

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
I started around July when my brother pulled out an old cheap-o, but I didn't get serious until I got a pair of finesse-es from my grandmother for my b-day in september, so not even a year (or half of one for that matter).

2. What or who got you started?
My brother, who pulled out the cheap-o from some closet somewhere.

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
The never ending quest to become better at it.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
During the summer it was up to 3-4 hours a day. Now that the weather has turned foul, less than an hour. Basically, every time I step outside for a cigarette, I take a diabolo out with me.

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
Not yet, but I hope to.

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?
Balls mostly, a little staff spinning and a little coin manipulation (read poker chips). Just started doing some contact juggling with balls and picked up a yo-yo after a 17 year hiatus.

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
Mister Babache finesse. no opinion on sticks or string

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?

Hi there everyone,

I am Maysun, female, 20 years old, living in Utrecht, the Netherlands and just got a diabolo from Santa Claus :P. It's a very VERY basic thing, like 3 euro's at the toysstore but well I don't mind. I used to diabolo as a child, when I was about twelve for some time and at that time I had no clue there were so many tricks, I just spinned it and tossed it in the air as high as possible and catched it. Now it was the first time, 8 years later I tried it again and remarkably but true, in some minutes could do the same thing, and also started to mentally understand how it kept spinning, how to make it spin harder or to spin the other direction etc...:D After the first try searched on the internet because I thought there must be communities and tricks and such on the web.

I've been hooping since April and am getting rather good in it. I can now virtually hoop around all parts of my body and do several off body tricks. Unfortunately it is winter here now and just often too cold to go outside and hoop but I anyhow do have the intention to continue spinning both with the hoop and diabolo. I just love all these spinning circus tools, also poi and juggling etc...but hooping is priority nr 1, I started that first.
Well anyhow, I'll probably try some tricks mentioned here and there and if I want some advice or if at some time I feel I could give anyone else advice I'll be posting here.
I'm really excited! (especially after that superhigh toss :D)

Update..Just been doing diabolo for about an hour. Believe it or not, but I can already do (the most simple version of) the orbit, right trapeze, and wrapping and unwrapping it several directions/ways. (though I don't yet remember what ways), oh and walking around while diaboling, correcting tilt, or walking rounds around it (to unwrap if the strings is crossed several times.) I just read somewhere you can do a sun trick to make that undone, but haven't tried yet.
:-)

I'm planning on buying a fire hoop next summer. Or this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv56LAW16WU

1. How many years have you diaboloed for? Got mine for Christmas, but had used one a couple different times, so maybe 2 weeks.

2. What or who got you started?
I've been juggling for almost two years and decided to start Diabolo too.

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general? The challenge it poses and the feeling it gives you when you accomplish your goals. Also, it attracts people and then I have the opportunity talk to them and share my faith in Jesus Christ.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average? Well, I've been busy with school stuff and have kind of stopped juggling for a couple months, but now that I have a Diabolo, I probably practice an hour a day.

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
I haven't yet.

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ? Yes, Balls(6), Clubs(5), and Rings(6).

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string? I don't really know yet. My current set is two Henry's Circus Diabolos and the Wood deluxe hand sticks that come with them on Jugglingstore.com

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best? I currently can only do one, but I've started to work with two and it's looking fun.

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do? Well, having just started, I don't know that many. I learned the string climb yesterday, which I find pretty fun. I also like pirouettes, but my room doesn't allow for more than a 360 hight. Being an experienced toss juggler, I can do up to a one diabolo 1080 so far.

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done? I don't know much terminology yet, but I saw a video clip of a guy doing 5 diabolos high, which seems pretty impossible, and Wes Peden does some pretty cool suicide 360 combinations. I'll let you know when I find out more names of tricks.

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)? Well, getting "around the arm" down seems like it's taking a bit more work than it took for around the foot and around the leg, but mainly two diabolos is my challenge now.

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?[/url] Wes Peden, even though diabolo isn't his high point, he's good at it. A few others are Matt hall and Norbi.
