Imaginating and creating new tricks
« on: August 21, 2010, 07:04:09 PM »
Hey everyone,

Since I've started diabolo, I've ever try to think how to create new tricks. I know there is no right or wrong way to do it but I was wondering how guys like Joona, Crackers, Clement, Etienne (and so many others)  imagine tricks. Do you make plans in advance in your head or do you just chill out and try things.

And this is one question for people who've been diaboling for quite a while : I've you ever practiced diabolo with your own tricks or did you wait to have a solid base with one and two diabolos to start creating tricks ?

This might be a hard question to answer but as I'd really like to start performing, I need to have some personal tricks. I think it's a good thing not tor take people ideas and perform with it.

So what do you think ?

I can't say i've come up with that many tricks (perhaps just 1), but i usually just come across things by accident. Or i see something in a VotW, which can be worked out further. I would't call it a trick i thought up if it was just a variation on a VotW, but it feels a bit like it :)

I think a solid base is fundamental to start creating new tricks and combos.

Ex.: For practicing vertax you need to know chinese accelaration, for knowing chinese acceleration you need to know how to wrap the diabolo... for doing a genocide exit on an infinite suicide/infinite suicide exit on a genocide you need to know how to do a genocide and an infinite suicide alone and so on.

In my opinion, for creating new tricks the most important things are:

1) Practicing: Making mistakes sometimes may end up in creating new tricks aside from consolidating the ones you already know.

2) A solid base: Knowing the basic tricks and the mechanics of diabolo is very important... if one of the tricks that is difficult for you worked, don't stop doing it, reinforce it !

3) Getting Inspired:
Watching diabolists that you like, creating a comfortable environment (and using it if you want to !), listening to music, etc everything helps (If you haven't got Diabology DVDs you should consider buying them and watching them, they were a great source of inspiration and new tricks for me)

greetings
Have you ever seen the light?
