Triangles - a video by Ceri-Anne
« on: September 17, 2010, 04:43:35 PM »
Hello everyone,

Here is my new video. It is a short video that shows what sort of tricks I have been experimenting and playing with. Most of the tricks can be done with various entries and exits. (And some of them are not even 'finished' yet.) I think there is a lot of potential for variations and I hope to hear some ideas you may have about these kind of pull-the-string tricks.

Enjoy!

Those are Sundia carbon sticks.

Ahhhhh....that was awesome.  I need to get filming before you discover the stuff I've conjured up :)

Looking forward to seeing some of your stuff Looby!
The string climb is actually Martijn's idea, so thanks again Tijn. :)

Keep going, maybe combine it with 2 diabolos!
I have actually been trying to do that, but it's a lot harder than with only one diabolo (obviously). See the diabolo.ca collaboration video 2009 at 12:55 for a 2d pull-the-string I came up with. I also remember that Crackers did a 2d pull-the-string a year or two ago, but I can't remember what topic he posted it in.

btw are you coming to the HJW?
Not sure yet.

It is curious that I am not fond of this kind of tricks, but you perform them so nicely that it is impossible not to like it :)

Nice! you should put some yo-yo counterweights on the ends of the string, and use those for... something.

Yes, I'll be in Laer. So see you there!

I thought about that before, but never really did much with the idea. I used to have beads at the end of my sticks, but they shattered every time I let go of the string, resulting in scratches on my hands from flying fragments. Perhaps yoyo counterweights are less fragile. It's a nice idea.

Sweet video! I really liked the eiffel tower made out of triangles.

I have beads on my sticks and have played around a bit with pulling them out, but never really went anywhere with it, so haven't broken many beads. It might be worth testing out different types of beads (perhaps wooden or metal ones?) if you haven't already.
I came up with a 2d trick where I use my teeth to pull out the string and pop one out of the shuffle on to it. It's not quite as stylish as your stuff, but it's good fun :)
