Gopro HD
« on: March 06, 2011, 12:31:25 PM »
Hi,

I'm right now looking for a new camera at a reasonable prize and I fell on this little camera and found it very interesting in terms of prize, quality, size, and much more.
So I was wondering if any you had any experience with this camera, and would recommend it to me.

My friend Arron just got one and posted this: Testing GoPro Camera - juggling videos hosted @ Juggling.tv

That's all I know though.

As far as I know it is being used a lot in extreme sports and skate related videos.

Well I did not thought about that kind of use but it's a good idea  :)

And yeah when looking through some reviews on it on the web, I found it was used in extrem sports. But what interested me was the hd quality and everything I said before.

I have it and enjoy it a lot :-)
Though I would say it s more a camera that could be used in complementary of another one, as it s very useful for specific angles. It comes with a lot of different fixations (you can fix it on your head yes). The sound quality is poor though, and it s a fish eye lens.
No doubt that juggling with this while filming could give some very interesting results :-)

Well, Nico, if it's not indiscreet, what camera or type of camera do you use as your main one ?

No it's not indiscreet :-)
I use a Canon EOS 550D which is good for both pics and movies (HD 1080p). Most of the recent Canon models have Full HD video now I think.
I used to shoot also with a Panasonic Lumix FZ35, which is smaller and cheaper, but shoots in 720p only. The advantage with this one is a nice zoom 18x.
Hope it helped :-)

That head mounted shot is nice! Where and how is it attached to the head? Could the quality be better in any way? Especially the colors.

This shot is taken with inside lights and from what I've read, the Gopro camera is not good for low and inside lights. Maybe that's why it does not look so good.

It's true. I tried it several times inside with low lights and the result isn't great. But outside shots on day time are really nice.
