Circus vs. Finesse?
« on: April 27, 2011, 12:40:26 AM »
I can't decide whether to get the Henry's Circus or Mr. Babache Finesse diabolo. Any suggestions? I also can't decide on sticks. What's a good pair of cheapish sticks?

Hi,

I've got two Finesse (G4) and love them, I've never played with the Circus but a lot of people use and speak highly of them. If you get a chance try both types and see which one you prefer, if that's not possible search this site (use the search) and read the old threads about this subject. Whichever one you go for I'm sure you wont be disappointed.

For your first sticks I'd suggest Henry's Aluminum as they are very strong, they wont let you down.

Hope this helped and welcome to Diabolo.ca

I'd prefer the finesse, i have two of them and i dont have a circus so i might be a little bit biassed, Finesses are better, and that is why i chose them over circus's. There are a few reasons. 1. They look better. 2. There are way more evo kits for them, except the cirsus has more axle, hub options, but i like the evo 7 from mr babache, they sound and look really nice. 3. They are lighter. The circus is a heavy diabolo, heaver that a finesse, fly, triple bearing, a glaty taibolo, all types of suns. basically the circus it is the heaviest pro diabolo. And the finesse g4 is one of the lightest. 4. Because the g4s are much lighter they are better for multiple diabolo work. 5 Cheaper. Only just, by about 2 pounds, but yes finesses are cheaper. 6. The rubber that the finesses are made out of can take anything, i dont know about the circus, but the finesse is the strongest diabolo i know of. 7. Especially in the latest model of finesse, the cups are much more, 'Catch Friendly', they dont seem to get in the way of the string, so that makes them way better for genocides and tricks like that.

Okay so theres my opinion, and the sticks, your looking for cheap? I'd go with the mr babache Energy\Xtreme
It comes down to personal preferecne, ichose the energys and my mate has the xtremes, i use his alot and i still like my energys.....until i ditched them for sundia carbons, which are really hard to get the string through, but its up to you, i hope i've helped, Cya.

Would it make a difference if I said I wanted a long spin time?

No it wouldn't.

There is no right answer to Finesse vs. Circus (or any of the main brand 5 inch diabolos). The small sample of answers you will get in this thread will just be the luck of the draw and not representative of the "general" opinion. Lots of people prefer Circuses. Lots of people prefer Finesses. Lots of people prefer Sundia Suns etc, etc. If you want more information than you could ever want on this then have a good long search and read through the "Gear" and "I'm New" sections.

The only "right" answer is to try them out yourself and see if you prefer the feel of one over the other. Find a juggling club around you. Failing that, get whichever is easiest to get, cheapest, you like the look of, etc. There is no right or wrong answer. Many (most?) people, if they get seriously into it, will at some point own and prefer each of the diabolo brands. At least I certainly have.

Avoid Energys at all cost.  Xtreams are alot better.

That being said Henrys Aluminuim are the closest to being indestructible and are cheaper.
