I would use chinese whips/snaps, but it wraps up the string too frequently for me, so I don't use that method regularly  :( .  So instead I just use power pulls with a left wrap or sun wrap.

orbit wraps or smoothing out your chinese whipping might help James. I cant remember the last time I pulleed a string through during whipping aftre calming it down a bit.

Orbit wraps and whip thrusts do it for me... am still working the kinks out of my chinese power whips *sigh*

The whole diabolo running up and hitting the handsticks is somewhat of a yoyo quality in a diabolo.  The Viper Yoyo has no brake discs or friction pads whatsoever, just the aluminium hubs.  These create enough friction when fast enough to grab the string.  Diabolo does the similar thing in that the hubs spinning fast enough can grab the string when a wrap is on.

The only advice I can think of is that if you are in a right hand backwrap, then keep your right hand back from your left hand.  Not so much that you turn the diabolo, but just enough so that you string does a sort of helix around the axle (like a spring you squash as opposed to a spring you pull).  I like wrapped power thrusts but do use orbits and snaps.

Has anyone come up with any original ways of speeding up two diabolos?

I guess S-fan speeds them up but only up to a point and if you just mainly use your right hand to drive the shuffle then that speeds it up too.

Any other ideas?

I've looked, but to no avail, maybe someone can point me to it if I missed it, or help me out.
Can I get a step by step talk on wrapped orbits? I presume they aren't too difficult, but really can't work them out by watching vids (they are usually shown already started) and I just want something less boring to speed up with.
Thanks.

do an outside sun, but instead of unwrapping it with your right hand, just keep it there. and poof just do a satellite motion but the diabolo is wrapped

Chinese acceleration is more efficient, because the diabolo is speeded up during the move up, and the move down.

The same with the wrapped orbit, ain't it?
That's why you wrap it.

I myself think Chinese whips are pretty impressing to lots of undiaboloing people, but since I use the orbit my string don't breaks that often inside the sticks (henrys fiber)...on the other hand the orbits seemed to roughen the string (hhhmmm "roughen"...know what I mean??) where it's wrapped around the diab. But I guess that's caused by technique. The same reason for having the diab running straight up to the stick while acclerating.
Guess that happens when "both" strings overlay each other or at least touch each other pretty hard while the diab is wrapped.

You can prevent major accidents and material injuries by listening to your movement.
You must know what i mean. Do you?

Listen to the sounds of rubbing and correct slightly with your hands.

It depends of how do youmake wrap orbit's. Often when someone uses this acceleration, he pushes the diabolo down to left, with right hand (acceleration) and pushes the diabolo up to right with left hand. So during the second move, the diabolo isen't  accelerated. With chinese accelertion, your right hand push the diabolo up and down, so it's always accelerating the diabolo.

infinite suicide is very powerfull way to accelerate diabolo if you move diabolo horizontal while doing trick.. faster you move diabolo, more speed it gets.. (stick speed raises also, but you can slow that down by moving diabolo up and down)

I've just started using minigenocides for speed ups and even starts.

If you throw the diabolo in with your hand and then catch it backside with your right hand (for us lefties) then release in to a mini, when you catch the stick the diabolo has a moderate amount of spin....

.... well i like it :)

I could be wrong, but I think for orbits, it depends on the height of the orbit. If you accelerate downward and then throw it straight across, it is only speeding up on that stroke. But if you make the return over your hands and make sure the string is taut, I believe that speeds it up also. If you do the upward motion with the strong hand, then you can pull back with the the weak one.

I need to work on the chinese snaps/pulls myself. It does feel different, but I guess in the end it is basically the same thing. If you do your orbit straight up and down, that basically becomes pulls and sharp sideways tugs can become more like horizontal snaps..

Shawn

P.S. I think I've seen some snaps done where the diabolo stays basically stationary while the hand moves. Anyone trick orbit wraps that are "isolated" where you move your arms in a circle while the diabolo stays in one place? Could potentially be cool looking..

I use a speed up that I came up with myself, although i dont know if other people have came up with it before. According to sean_ its 'japanase' style, but basically you go as if to put a normal powerloop into the diabolo on your strong hand backside, but immaediately take the wrap out the same way, if done continuously and smoothly it is a very affective way of speeding your diabolo up, it looks cool aswell

Does anyone have a method of speeding up the diabolo while it is backside. I use - go backside (scissors) with the left hand - whip the left hand under the right (speeding up diabolo) - pop diabolo, uncross hands and catch near right hand and speed up with half orbit and repeat. However it does not speed up the diabolo much.

You could just turn 180º around and speed up backwards.  Otherwise, I'm outta ideas.

for backside, you can always do horizontal power whips, speed loops, just have to do them with your left hand

The easiest way is to do a left backside and a wrap with your left hand (mingenocide position) and do loop acceleration.
