Collab 2011 The Real Thing!
« on: November 21, 2011, 09:52:14 PM »
To all fellow spinners, I will be taking care of this year's collaboration!

My aim is to try and include at least one video from each person who submits and I will do my best to only reject videos if the film quality or lighting is too bad.

To submit a video, upload it somewhere using something like Dropbox or Mediafire and then email a link to me at: collab2011 "at" diabolo.ca. Don't forget to include your name (or forum username if you'd prefer) and location.

I'd suggest people submit three videos or less, although feel free to send in several angles of the same trick.

I'll be taking submissions until Christmas day and i will try and have the video finished for the first of January. (If you post after Dec. 25th I may still be able to include your submissions but I can't ensure anything.)

I hope you guys have some great ideas. Be creative, be silly, have fun, and no matter how bad you think you are try and submit something!

Thank you all,
max

Only if you make it private. Just not to risk I suggest you using smth different as mediafire, megaupload, dropbox. Max would tell you what he prefers

It's a shame that my last hd camera broke and now I dont have anything that will film in decent quality. I was really looking forward to sending some videos in. But anyway thank you very much for undertaking the task Max!

I think it's been said in previous years and/or posts, but keeping the resolution at or above 720p would be a good thing. Also, don't edit or further compress your video before uploading it for Max, just cut it.

And keep it fun! Some of the best entries in previous years had little to do with traditional diaboloing.

I think how interesting the trick is is more important than film quality. A 360p innovative trick should be picked over 1080p 2 diabolo mini columns. In my opinion, anyway. Of course, film quality is important, but someone makes something highly interesting, I don't think it should be disregarded.

Yep! Creativity goes before video quality. It's just too bad that I bought my camera just before the HD-boom, so it just doesn't go beyond 480p.
Ahwell, I still don't know whether/what i will send in...

HD video recording, even on digital photo cameras, has been common for long enough that hopefully most people can find one from a friend to borrow if need be. Heck, get them to help film you from a bunch of more interesting angles.

From past experience with these, filming quality and content quality are typically correlated.

of course if someone submits a good trick in not exactly the best quality i will be more likely to include it but there are limits. but you can film things in reasonable quality with a non hd camera if you have the right lighting etc.

That's why I always film in 4080p
